Exploring Religions

If you weren't born into a certain religion, though, you probably have no clue where to start. Andrew Bowen has developed a challenge of trying one religion per month for a year. Last year, he learned and practiced Hinduism, the Baha-i faith, Zarathushtra and Judaism to name a few. At the end of his conversion journey, he didn't choose one religion, as originally planned. Instead, he has become a new convert towards Immersionism. Overall, he became more spiritual.

Do you just assume that everyone you know is the same religion? Not necessarily the case, especially not in the United States. That's what makes us unique, right? But what does each religion entail? How do you choose one for yourself? If you're like me, you just stay with the one you group with because it makes sense. I'm Christian and attend a United Methodist church. A friend is currently on the journey to becoming a Jehovah's witness. A friend's grandmother is Catholic.

So don't assume you have to stay one religion just because of family pressures and values. Explore for yourself. You might end up changing religions, or staying with the same. Either way, you can also claim more paid holiday time off from work!

p.s. Why don't we speak about religion anymore? I know I personally steer clear because it leads into a long history lesson. But that could just be me.
